Pauline Michiko Sato

Crew

Pauline Sato is from Honolulu, O‘ahu, currently living in the ahupua‘a of Nu‘uanu. She works in the areas of communications and outreach for The Nature Conservancy and Mälama Hawai‘i, with environmental education as her passion.

“This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to go to Palmyra Atoll, one of The Nature Conservancy’s project areas and a true gem among coral reef and atoll ecosystems. It is also an honor to sail aboard Hōkūle’a with crew-members who believe in ‘mālama Hawai‘i,’ caring for our home, and thereby serve the shared missions of Mālama Hawai‘i and the Polynesian Voyaging Society.”

“I look forward to the worldwide voyage of Hōkūle’a, a voyage to discover how we can all live more sustainably together on this planet, our canoe in the sea of space. It’s incredibly exciting to begin planning for this epic voyage. We hope to inspire every community that Hōkūle’a touches, whether directly or indirectly. We could play a key role in a global movement toward much needed change.”
