Crew
Mark Logan was born in upcountry Omaha, Nebraska onthe “Big Island.” He has lived on O‘ahu since 1972. Logan, as he’s known by most, currently works as an Operations Officer for the Hawai‘i National Guard.
“I’ve been fascinated by the accomplishments of Polynesian wayfarers since first learning about the Polynesian Voyaging Society in the early 1970s. By serving as crew on the escort vessel, Kama Hele, I will have a firsthand opportunity to witness and learn from the Hōkūle’a and crew during a significant offshore voyage. I am also extremely interested in improving and expanding my offshore voyaging skills so that I can increase my confidence to conduct a long-term sailing voyage throughout the Pacific in the future.”
“I hope to train for and be considered for a crew position on the Hōkūle’a on one or more legs of the worldwide voyage. In addition, I hope to participate in all the preparation and events that will allow the worldwide voyage to come to fruition.”
