Helping to restore our native trees

Understanding that helping to restore our native plants helps to restore our entire native ecosystem, students are working diligently to bring back the wiliwili trees that have been decimated by introduced pests.

Hawaii has such a diverse

Hawaii has such a diverse system of flora. If the insects and invasive plants are such a threat, relocating these plants until the problem is eradicated seems like a wise move. Once they are strong enough to move, throw them into some commercial planters, and send them off to thrive in other similar conditions.

It's a shame that Hawaii, like many places, is running out of room for its natural habitat. It's good to know that many Hawaiian people are taking this seriously and working towards preserving the islands' natural heritage.
