Itinerary for Statewide Sail Honoring Mau Piailug

In honor of legendary Master Navigator Mau Piailug who passed away on July 12, members of ‘Ohana Wa‘a (the Hawai‘i voyaging community) are sailing through the Hawaiian Islands sharing Papa Mau’s love for this ‘āina.

As is always the case with traditional Polynesian voyages, exact departure and arrival dates may vary based upon weather and ocean conditions.

*Hōkūle‘a’s sister wa‘a (canoes) will join her at Hawai‘i, Hōkūalaka‘i in Hilo and Makali‘i in Kawaihae. The three canoes will continue on, sailing in unity as a tribute to Papa Mau.

** At Kualoa, members from the ‘Ohana Wa‘a will gather with native peoples from around the world as part of the the “Healing our Spirit Worldwide” conference.

As we get more information, we'll pass it on.Hokulea
