Honoring Mau Piailug

Aloha kākou,

As the entire ‘Ohana Wa‘a prepares to honor Master Navigator Mau Piailug with a statewide sail, we are also preparing to assist Papa Mau's ‘ohana and community in Satawal.

We are tremendously grateful for the precious gift of traditional navigation that has been kept alive on Satawal through Papa Mau. And, with a great generosity of spirit, Papa Mau's family and community have shared with several generations of Polynesian navigators, ensuring that this vital legacy endures.

Therfore, we humbly request that all members of the voyaging community and those who cherish the traditions by which Mau Piailug lived join us in honoring him by helping provide much needed goods to the people of Satawal.

No donation is too small. And, no donation is too large.

Donations made be made to The Polynesian Voyaging Society (please be sure to denote on your donation "In memory of Mau," so that we can ensure that it goes directly to Satawal).
