Nū Hou Nui: Support Needed for ‘Ohana Member

Aloha mai,

My apologies if you are only learning about this situation via this blog. About three weeks ago, Laua‘e (Murphy) Beamer, wife of Kamana Beamer, was diagnosed with breast cancer. We don't have many details yet as Laua‘e is currently pregnant with their first child, a girl, due in the next few weeks and that has limited the doctors' ability to make a complete diagnosis. We do know that she will likely undergo intense treatment for one year immediately after giving birth.

It is very important that we raise funds to help the family while Laua‘e undergoes treatment. Friends of Laua‘e and Kamana will be holding a benefit concert for the family on Saturday, March 27 (6:30 - 9 pm at Calvary by the Sea Church) to help raise money for her medical treatment and expenses.

The concert will feature Kapono Beamer, Jon Osorio, Kāmau, Keola Beamer and others.

You may purchase tickets online or give a gift to the family at the Benefit for Laua‘e website (all monies go directly to the family). We strongly suggest you buy your tickets early; we hope to sell the event out quickly. The site also provides additional details about the concert event.

Kamana and Laua‘e are very grateful for the love and support they are receiving. They have asked that they be given privacy to focus on the upcoming birth of their daughter. All questions can be directed to Jon Osorio (osorio@hawaii.edu) or myself (watson@honuaconsulting.com) for now.

Please help share this information with others, as we are hoping for a highly successful event that will help Kamana, Laua‘e and their family as they face the challenges ahead. Any support you can give is greatly appreciated.

Aloha nō,

Kēhau Watson
