Sailing around the world aboard the iconic Hawaiian voyaging canoe, riding the ocean swells, meeting incredible people and experiencing new cultures… it all sounds very exciting. And, it is. But, beyond the romance of the sea, there's a lot of hard work and incredible commitment. Hōkūle'a crewmembers are among the most dedicated people in the world.
If you think you have what it takes to be one of these incredible sailors, we invite you to join us for the Worldwide Voyage crew registration and orientation at the Marine Education Training Center (10 Sand Island Access Road, Honolulu) this Thursday, October 15 at 5:30 pm.
At this meeting, we will discuss what it takes to develop the skills necessary to be a part of the Worldwide Voyage crew. For those serious in their pursuit of earning a place among the Hōkūle‘a crew, some of the requirements include:
Additionally, having some understanding of paddling and steering a canoe are desirable.
For Neighbor Island voyagers interested in becoming a part of the Worldwide Voyage crew, the Crew Training Director will be conducting registrations on each island. The dates for these registrations haven't been set yet. However, please keep in ccontact with ‘Ohana Wa‘a on your island for more information.
