As a precaution, voyaging crews from around Hawai‘i are preparing for Tropical Storm Felicia.
Hōkūle‘a, which had planned to sail to the Big Island of Hawai‘i, will be moved to safer waters and wait for word on when she can sail safely. As soon as word comes that all is safe, Hōkūle‘a will journey to Hawai‘i so that Big Island crews may have the opportunity to train for the worldwide voyage aboard the iconic wa‘a.
We have also learned that Hawaiiʻs voyaging canoes will be pulled out of the water as a safety measure until after the storm passes.
As soon as we get word on when Hōkūle‘a will be traveling to the Big Island, we will post it here.
