Spear fishing to protect our reefs

In days past, the consequences of introducing non-native species to Hawaiʻi were thought to be negligible. Today, we know just how harmful those actions can be. Recently, a group of spearfishers have been working together to try and rid Hawaiiʻs reefs of one of the most destructive invasive species, the roi (peacock grouper).  In this four-part video (thereʻs a slight pause between each section) learn what local fishermen are doing to protect our ocean resources.
