Video blog: Traveling to Palmyra

Crew member Jenna Ishii gives us a sense of life aboard Hōkūle‘ā on the way to Palmyra Atoll.

In this video you get a glimpse of life on the ocean with no land for hundreds of miles, plus some of the everyday workings of the canoe. Tending to sails, steering and checking lashings are all daily duties. There is also a snippet of captain/navigator Bruce Blankenfeld using his hand to check the canoe's position. In a previous blog, crew member Eli Witt described calibrating your hand for celestial navigation.
