The Nature Conservancy and the US Fish and Wildlife Service generously allowed the crew of Hōkūle‘a to visit and study on the protected atoll, Palmyra. A rare treat, our crew was able to go back in time to see a healthy coral reef ecosystem.
"Everywhere you turn, thereʻs life," shared voyager Nahaku Kalei. "Palmyra shows us that environmental damage can be repaired. And, it gives us hope that we in Hawai‘i can also change our course to preserve our natural resources."
